IIA and Michigan State University Welcomes Agricultural Delegation from Poland
The Institute of International Agriculture was pleased to host a delegation of Polish Agriculturalists during their visit to Michigan State University (June 3rd-6th).
The purpose of their visit was to tour research facilities and other sites involved in bioenergy. In addition, the delegation met with researchers to discuss agricultural biotechnology and marketing.

The group learned about ethanol and biodiesel production as well as the development of second generation biofuels, and saw first-hand how the U.S. experience with the technology may help Poland develop their biofuels sector.
The delegation consisted of Minister Jan Krzysztof Ardanowski, Adviser on Agriculture to the President of Poland; Mr. Kazimierz Zmuda, Deputy Director of the Department of Agricultural Markets, and Chief of Biofuels, Polish Ministry of Agriculture; Professor Ryszard Kozlowski, Director of the Institute of Natural Fibers in Poznan; and Mr. Marek Szczygielski, Chief Inspector, Agricultural and Food Quality Inspection, Bydgoszcz Region. They were accompanied by Ms. Kate Snipes, the agricultural attaché to the U.S. embassy in Warsaw, Poland.
Dennis Pennington and Renee Applegate of MSU Extension and Mark Seamons of the MSU Product Center were responsible for developing the technical program and accompanying the delegation during their visit. Johan Brink and Anne Boone of the Institute of International Agriculture also aided in facilitating this very successful visit. Jakub Oskowiecz, an MSU pre-law student, served as interpretor.
In addition to the Michigan State University campus, the group also visited a Biorefinery in Caro, a wind farm in Pigeon, Michigan; as well as General Motors and Chrysler in Detroit.
